Kids Matter is a mental health and wellbeing framework for primary schools and is proven to make a positive difference to the lives of children.  Kids Matter Primary provides the proven methods, tools and support to help schools work with parents and carers, health services and the wider community, to nurture happy, balanced kids.

The Kids Matter is a journey undertaken by the whole school community – students, staff, parents and families.  Our Action Team is involved in professional learning sessions throughout a three year journey. Our Action Team, made up of Averil Mitchell, Liz Davey, Luke Wilson, Bri Loves and Kylie Long (our parent representative) will then facilitate the program to all school community members.  The Action Team will work closely with staff, children and our parent community to bring about positive changes within our school community that benefits mental health and wellbeing.

There are four components to the initiative:

  1. A positive school community
  2. Social and emotional learning for students
  3. Parenting support and education
  4. Early intervention for students who are experiencing metal health difficulties

Parents play a huge part in this program and we welcome parent participation. There are some very exciting initiatives being planned at Hampton Park Primary School.
